About Us
A place of refuge, rooted in our community.
Safe Haven of Mt Carmel Inc is a community organization based at 217 W. 3rd St in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Our logo carries the words that guide us: providing refuge and community.
We believe safety is the starting point for everything else — rest, stability, and the chance to plan for what comes next.

Who we are
We are neighbors, volunteers, and supporters who share a belief that people facing hardship deserve to be met with dignity and practical help.
The sign on our building identifies Safe Haven as a homeless shelter for women and children. We keep this website focused on information our organization has confirmed, and we invite anyone with questions about current services to contact us directly.
Our purpose
Our purpose is to offer refuge and to strengthen the community around the people we serve. Everything we do should trace back to that purpose and to our governing documents.
Our history
Safe Haven's story has been shaped by local volunteers, tradespeople, students, and families who have given their time to keep the building safe, warm, and welcoming.
We are gathering a fuller written history with founding members and will share it here once it has been reviewed for accuracy.
